Exercising great moral influence, the arts speak to intuitive truths. The arts raise our spirits and nourish our lives. They reflect who we are and give voice to the full range of human experience. The arts have the power to heal and to delight, offering a quality of life for our children and ourselves. When we invest in the arts, we are investing in the fundamental health, enrichment and well being of the community.

Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza

The Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza is the largest performing arts center between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Thousands of performances take place in the 1,800-seat Fred Kavli Theatre for the Performing Arts and the 394-seat Janet and Ray Scherr Forum Theatre.

The Alliance for the Arts

The Alliance for the Arts is the nonprofit fund-raising arm of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. Alliance fund-raising efforts have allowed the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza to operate in the black since its opening in 1994. The Alliance is a private sector partner of the City of Thousand Oaks. The Alliance is especially proud of its unique collaboration with the City, which was recently lauded as a model for successful public/private partnerships.

The Alliance develops the resources to support, encourage and enhance the performing and visual arts at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. Through fund-raising activities, it enables every family in the region to enjoy easily accessible cultural events, great theatre, and the finest performances of national and international artists.

Alliance activities include developing and maintaining the endowment funds that financially support theatre operations, programming, and educational services. The Alliance accomplishes this by sponsoring annual fund-raising events and seeking corporate and individual sponsorships of Plaza programs and services.

Through the fund-raising efforts of the Alliance, over 300,000 patrons enjoy performances at the plaza each year. Also, each year over 50,000 children participate in special cultural programs.
